Deacon Helen Schultz is the Director of Children’s Ministries.
Child care is provided in our Nursery in the Children’s Room downstairs during the 10:00 am service Sunday mornings for children up to two years old. Many parents pick up their children from the Nursery and bring even the very young to church to receive Communion or a blessing.
Children’s Christian Education on Sundays
St. Andrew’s offers a learning environment in which a child can experience God’s love, acceptance and the Christian faith. Age-graded Bible education is introduced in creative and engaging ways, so that all who are involved may fully live into the life of Christ that we receive through baptism and personal faith. Children’s Christian Education on Sundays runs from September through May.
Children’s Communion Classes
At St. Andrew’s, we are happy for young children who have been baptized to receive communion at an age when they understand something about what they are receiving in the Body and Blood of Christ. For second graders and above, we offer age-appropriate instruction on Holy Communion. These classes are held in the Spring. For some children, these classes are a preparation for receiving their first communion in May. For others, it is some additional understanding of God’s gift to us in the sacrament of the Lord’s Table.
Vacation Bible School
St. Andrew’s offers a week- long Bible adventure for children in Kindergarten through grade 6. A theme is chosen for the week and the teachings and activities follow that theme. Vacation Bible School is an excellent opportunity for Middle and High School students to assist in teaching and leadership activities.
