We’ve decided to keep things simple at St. Andrew’s. So, our mission is the mission that Jesus Christ gave to His first followers, the Great Commission:
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20
The mission that Jesus gave to His Church is to go and make disciples, that is, followers, who will be obedient to all that Jesus Christ taught to His first disciples.
Our vision is what Jesus Christ gave to His first followers immediately before His ascension:
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8
The vision that Jesus Christ gave to His Church is that every member will be a Holy Spirit-empowered witness to Jesus where they live, and in the region beyond that, and to every corner of the earth. Part of this work is accomplished by missionaries. We are responsible to be witnesses in the places that God sends us whether that’s to the office, or around the world.
Our values are those that Jesus taught to His first followers. Jesus said:
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.
This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 22:37-40
Jesus also added the new commandment:
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.”
So, our values are to love God above all else, love our neighbors as ourselves, and to love one another in the church.
